ROSSLYN PRIMARY REIGNS SUPREME AT U-13 SPECTACULAR CUP!

Rosslyn Primary School once again proved their dominance on the field as they successfully defended their title at the annual U13 Rosslyn Spectacular Cup, held at Rosslyn Gardens on Human Rights Day.

The young champions secured victory for the second consecutive year after an impressive performance against Rama City Under-13 in a thrilling grand finale.

The tournament drew a sizeable crowd of local supporters, parents, and community members, all eager to witness the growing talent of young athletes in the area. 

From the first whistle to the final moments of the championship match, the atmosphere was electric, with Rosslyn Primary rising to the occasion and showcasing resilience, teamwork, and skill.

The day’s activities extended beyond football, reflecting a holistic celebration of sport and community wellness, with proceedings kicking off with a lively 1,5 mile and 6.1km run/walk, followed by an energetic aerobics session that saw participants of all ages getting involved. 

Netball matches also added excitement to the programme, much to the delight of sponsors including Spur Karenpark, Spar Rosslyn, Riverwalk Purified Water, Polar Ice Cream Brits and Adventure Area Sportswear.

Event organiser Molefi Mahome praised the spirit of unity displayed throughout the day. 

“This event is about more than just competition. It’s about bringing the community together, promoting healthy living, and giving young people a platform to shine. Seeing Rosslyn Primary defend their title shows the consistency and development in our local schools,” he said.

Co-organiser Rorisang Matea echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the resilience shown by participants. “Even with challenges like the power failure, the athletes remained focused and determined. That speaks volumes about their passion and discipline. We are proud of every participant who made the day a success,” Matea added.

Despite an power outage during the event, the energy and enthusiasm of the athletes and spectators remained unwavering, even during the inclement weather that persisted throughout the day. 

The setback did little to disrupt the programme, as organisers and participants adapted swiftly to ensure the day continued smoothly.

The U-13 Spectacular Cup continues to grow as a key fixture on the local sporting calendar, not only identifying young talent but also strengthening community bonds. 

As Rosslyn Primary celebrates another well-earned victory, the future of grassroots sport in Rosslyn looks brighter than ever.
