ELDERLY COUPLE KILLED ALLEGEDLY FOR R300 IN MAKAPANSTAD!

A 17-year-old male suspect was arrested on Tuesday, 23 June 2026, in connection with the alleged murder of an elderly couple in Makapanstad, Hammanskraal in the North West.

The arrest follows an intensive investigation, after the bodies of a 76-year-old man and a 62-year-old woman were discovered on Monday, 22 June 2026.

Acting on information received, a multidisciplinary team comprising the Brits Crime Intelligence Unit, Brits Trio Task Team and Makapanstad Detectives, traced and interviewed a person of interest.

Information obtained during the interview led to a tactical operation during which the suspect was arrested.

Further investigation resulted in the recovery of cash, believed to be part of money allegedly taken from the victims, as well as a knife handle, both of which were seized as evidence.

The suspect is expected to appear before the Tshwane North Migistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 24 June 2026. He will also undergo the necessary legal processes applicable to child offenders after his appearance and in accordance with the Child Justice Act.

This is a developing story.
