SOUP KITCHEN THIEF SENTENCED TO 10-YEARS IN PRISON!

The Britstown General Detectives have successfully secureda 10 year imprisonment sentence for 27-year-old Mpumelelo Pieterson.

The sentence was handed down by the Britstown Regional Court following his conviction for burglary and theft at a soup kitchen in Mziwabantu, Britstown, on Wednesday, 19 March 2025.

Court proceedings revealed that the complainant discovered the soup kitchen door had been forced open.

Upon further inspection, it was confirmed that a burglary had occurred, prompting the reporting of the incident to the police.

Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of a stolen electric kettle.

Pieterson was convicted of business burglary and sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment.

He has also been declared unfit to possess a firearm.

The Pixley Ka Seme District Commissioner, Major General Nomana Mtukushe, commended Detective Sergeant Phillip Setlogelo for his thorough and meticulous investigation, which ensured the successful prosecution and incarceration of the accused.She emphasized that strong community and police partnerships are vital in combating property-related crimes
