In essence, this is the final call for runners as Mpileng Tshwane North Marathon nears its capacity.

There is mounting urgency around the Mpileng Tshwane North Athletic Club Marathon Race Director and Chairperson of TNU NPC Mahlomola “Hloks” Lebea confirmed that online registration will officially close on 8 April 2026.

The race is set for 18 April at the Akasia Community Hall where a quality crowd is expected to lineup.

Lebea has issued a strong warning to runners across the province and beyond: failure to register before the deadline could result in missing out entirely.

The rapidly growing race, now in its fourth edition, is already drawing significant interest, with organisers expecting a field of around 3 000 runners.

The 50km ultra-distance, the headline event, is set to dominate entries and has been capped at 1 500 participants.

“Those who haven’t registered online run the risk of missing out on all distances,” Lebea said, referring to the 50km, 21km, 10km and 5km races.

While manual registrations will be made available at collection points, Lebea stressed that this option comes with no guarantees as capacity continues to tighten.

“Unfortunately, no one is guaranteed space as the race grows bigger each year,” he added.

In preparation for race weekend, organisers have confirmed that exhibition and race number collection will take place in Johannesburg on 14–15 April, before moving to Akasia Hall on 16–17 April.

With just days left before online entries shut, the message from organisers is clear: act now or risk being left behind in one of Tshwane’s fastest-growing road races.
