JULIUS MALEMA BLASTS ‘RACIST’ COURT!
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema has sharply criticised the judiciary following his recent 5-year imprisonment sentencing, accusing the presiding magistrate of bias and describing the ruling as politically motivated.
Speaking to a large crowd of supporters outside court, Malema alleged that the magistrate was “racist” and influenced by lobby group AfriForum, which had been central in pursuing the case against him.
The sentencing relates to a 2018 incident in which Malema discharged a firearm during a public event.
The court found him guilty on firearm-related charges, handing down a five-year prison sentence and R60 000 fine.
However, Malema has been granted leave to appeal, meaning he will remain out of custody while the legal process continues.

Addressing supporters, he insisted the judgment was not based purely on legal principles, but rather driven by external pressure and political considerations.
In his address, Malema maintained that he was being unfairly targeted and questioned why others present at the event were not prosecuted.
He framed the case as part of a broader struggle against systemic inequality, a message that resonated strongly with his supporters.
The EFF leader’s remarks drew loud applause from the crowd, many of whom had gathered in their thousands to show solidarity.
The streets surrounding the court were brought to a near standstill as EFF supporters, dressed in the party’s trademark red berets and regalia, filled the area.
Supporters sang struggle songs, danced, and waved flags, turning the scene into what resembled a political rally rather than a court gathering.
Traffic disruptions were reported as large groups occupied roads and pavements, with a heavy but controlled police presence monitoring the situation.
Despite the charged atmosphere, there were no immediate reports of serious violence.
Earlier, Malema had urged his supporters to remain calm and disciplined, a message that appeared to have a stabilising effect on the crowd. While emotions ran high, the gathering remained largely peaceful, underscoring the strong organisational control within the party’s structures.
Legal analysts say the outcome of the appeal process will be critical, not only for Malema personally but also for the broader political landscape.
If the sentence is upheld, it could have significant implications for his role in Parliament and leadership within the EFF.
For now, the case continues to fuel debate around justice, accountability, and political influence in South Africa.
As the situation develops, Akasia Express will continue to monitor the story and provide updates on both the legal proceedings and the political fallout.
