FATHER WHO ASSAULTED DAUGHTER FOUND, JAILED AND APPEARS IN COURT ON THREE COUNTS OF CHARGES!
A 42-year-old man is expected to appear before the Mahwelereng Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, 07 January 2026, following his arrest for allegedly brutally assaulting his 17-year-old biological daughter.
The arrest follows the circulation of a disturbing video clip on social media, which was brought to the attention of the police by a concerned community member from Armoede village, outside Mokopane town, within the Mahwelereng policing precinct.
The footage depicts a man violently assaulting a teenage girl by repeatedly hitting her with his fists, kicking her, dragging her along the ground, lifting and throwing her down, and stepping over her while she lay helpless and vulnerable.
A thorough investigation by the police revealed that the incident occurred on Monday, 05 January 2026, at approximately 17:00.
Acting on the information obtained, police traced and arrested the suspect on Tuesday, 06 January 2026.
The victim, a 17-year-old teenage girl, was assisted accordingly, and the case has since been transferred to the Mokopane Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit for further investigation.
The suspect has been charged with child abuse, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm (GBH), and domestic violence. He remains in police custody and is expected to appear in court as scheduled.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Major General Jan Scheepers, strongly condemned the incident. “The abuse of a child, particularly by a parent who is entrusted with their care and protection, is utterly unacceptable and criminal. We commend the community member who reported this incident and urge communities to continue speaking out against all forms of violence, especially those committed against women and children. The SAPS will ensure that the law takes its full course,” said Major General Scheepers.
