The Scorpion Kings, the powerhouse Amapiano partnership of DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small, took their biggest live music production yet to FNB Stadium on Saturday, 19 September 2026, bringing together thousands of music lovers for a major celebration of South African music and culture.
Dubbed Scorpion Kings Live: A Family Affair, the event represented another major chapter in the rise of the duo and the Amapiano movement they have helped shape. More than 70 000 fans were packed FNB Stadium, Nasrec following extraordinary demand that saw more than 70 000 tickets sold within the first week of their release. Reports also indicated that more than 500 000 people had joined online queues when tickets went on sale.
The scale of the event was matched by its lineup. More than 50 performers were announced, including Ami Faku, Aymos, Blxckie, Busiswa, Daliwonga, Focalistic, Kamo Mphela, Lady Du, Nasty C, Nkosazana Daughter, Ringo Madlingozi, Young Stunna, Toss, Tman Xpress, Mr JazziQ, Msaki and Pcee, alongside Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa.
The event also extended beyond music, incorporating fashion, food, brand activations and transport partnerships. Bontle Modiselle and Robot Boii served as hosts, while veteran broadcaster Baba Mthethwa was announced as the show’s chief commentator.
The FNB Stadium concert followed the success of the Scorpion Kings’ 2025 stadium show at Pretoria’s Loftus Versfeld, demonstrating the growing scale of their live productions. DJ Maphorisa previously acknowledged the magnitude of the FNB Stadium occasion, describing the preparations as exciting but nerve-racking.
The significance of Scorpion Kings Live extends beyond one concert as their journey reflects the extraordinary expansion of Amapiano, from a South African township-rooted sound into a genre with audiences across the world.
By taking over FNB Stadium, Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa have once again placed Amapiano, South African artists and local music culture on one of the country’s most prominent entertainment stages.
