EX-KAIZER CHIEFS PLAYER NABBED IN DRUG BUST!

A former Kaizer Chiefs star was among two former Zimbabwean footballers arrested by police after they were allegedly found in possession of drugs.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed that two former Zimbabwe stars, Abbas Amidu (35) and Reuben Kudzai Mhlanga (41), were arrested by police for drug trafficking in a bust that happened last week.

In a statement, the ZRP revealed the details surrounding the arrest.

“The ZRP confirms the arrest of soccer players, Tumai Matsika, also known as Abas Amidu (29) and Reuben Kudzai Mhlanga (41) for drug trafficking,” the statement read.

“The two were found in possession of 750kg of dagga valued at $75 000 (R1,2 million) in a silver Honda Shuttle vehicle, registration number AGP 6776, along Kwekwe – Kadoma Highway on 03/10/25,” the statement added.

According to Transfermarkt, Amidu featured for the Amakhosi and Black Leopards between 2011 and 2015, and also featured three times for the Zimbabwe national team.

It appears as though the 35-year-old’s playing career has come to an end as he has been without a club since leaving Egyptian side, Baladiyat El Mahalla, in 2020.

Mhlanga retired in 2012 and featured for Zimbabwean sides CAPS United, Dynamos and Motor Action throughout his career. – SL
