GAUTENG’S TWO DRAMATIC CRIME SCENES – WILD WILD WEST-STYLE SCENES!
Two crime scenes rock Johannesburg: Suspect arrested in Sandton chase as deadly shooting unfolds in OrmondeJohannesburg on 9 April 2026.
Actually, Johannesburg was gripped by a wave of violent incidents on Thursday afternoon as police responded to two separate crime scenes in Sandton and Ormonde, leaving multiple suspects arrested, two people dead and others wounded.
In Sandton, swift action by law enforcement led to the arrest of a suspect linked to an attempted armed robbery, while in Ormonde, a high-speed shooting along Crownwood Road turned deadly, leaving a trail of chaos and shock.
Sandton: Dramatic chase ends in arrest

Members of the SAPS Gauteng Highway Patrol acted on intelligence about a white Toyota Corolla allegedly involved in an attempted armed robbery near a hotel in Sandton at around 14:00.
Working together with Johannesburg Metro Police and private security, officers tracked the vehicle along Katherine Street, where they spotted it carrying three occupants.
When police attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver sped off, triggering a high-speed chase through busy Sandton roads.
During the pursuit, two suspects jumped out and fled on foot, disappearing into nearby streets.
The chase continued until the vehicle collided with a truck, forcing it to a halt.
The driver attempted to flee but was swiftly apprehended by officers a few metres from the crash scene.
A search of the vehicle uncovered two unlicensed firearms, ammunition and gloves. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle had been cloned and was originally hijacked in Daveyton in February 2026.
The arrested suspect is expected to face multiple charges, including possession of a hijacked vehicle, possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition, as well as reckless and negligent driving.
Police have launched a manhunt for the two suspects who escaped.
Ormonde: Deadly shooting sparks panic on Crownwood Road
In a separate and far more tragic incident, Crownwood Road in Ormonde turned into a scene of terror when a high-speed shooting erupted, leaving two people dead and two others wounded.
According to initial reports, gunfire rang out between moving vehicles, sending motorists scrambling for safety.
Witnesses described a chaotic scene as shots were fired in rapid succession, with vehicles swerving and trying to avoid being caught in the crossfire.
“It sounded like fireworks at first, but then people started ducking and running,” said one shaken motorist at the scene.
Emergency services rushed to the area, where they found two victims fatally wounded inside a vehicle.
Two others, believed to have sustained gunshot injuries during the attack, were stabilised on scene before being transported to hospital.
Police quickly cordoned off the area, closing sections of Crownwood Road as forensic teams combed the scene for evidence.
Bullet casings were scattered across the roadway, painting a grim picture of the intensity of the shooting.

Authorities are still investigating the motive behind the attack, with early indications suggesting it may have been a targeted hit.
Both incidents remain under active investigation. Police have urged anyone with information, particularly regarding the two suspects who fled in Sandton and the shooters involved in the Ormonde attack, to come forward.
The back-to-back incidents have once again highlighted ongoing concerns around violent crime in Johannesburg, with authorities intensifying efforts to remove illegal firearms from the streets.
More updates will follow as information becomes available.
