UMKHONTO WESIZWE FIRES FLOYD SHIVAMBU, AND HE ACCEPTS!

In what was expected following his continuous utterances about the party in his recent media addresses, Floyd Shivambu’s membership has been terminated by uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party.

The party said their former Secretary General’s recent public statements on the party meant he has defined himself outside of the party.

Shivambu was demoted as the party’s Secretary General in June.

He later started his own organisation, the Mayibuye Consultation Process, saying he no longer believed in the MK Party as a vehicle for black people’s liberation.

Shivambu also called the MK Party a family affair and accused its leader, Jacob Zuma, of being senile.

At a media briefing on Friday, the MK Party’s national chairperson, Nathi Nhleko, said Shivambu is no longer aligned with the ideas of the party.

“But also seriously violated the trust placed on him as a member of the party. In this regard, a decision has been taken to summarily terminate the membership of the former SG (Secretary General), and a formal letter of expulsion was transmitted to him on 15 July 2025, the MK Party will not entertain any further exchanges on this matter.”

Shivambu reponded to the axing with a statement.

“I hereby fully accept the decision by the uMKhonto weSizwe Party (MK Party) to terminate my membership of the organisation. This acceptance is unequivocal and final. I will not appeal the decision, as I respect the processes and structures of the organisation that I once served as National Organiser and Secretary General. Mayibuye iAfrika!” Shivambu wrote.

Meanwhile, Shivambu has welcomed Nombuso Mkhize to the leadership of his Mayibuye Africa party.

“With profound humility and shared purpose, the Mayibuye Consultation Process warmly welcomes Nombuso Mkhize as a distinguished member and leader in our movement.”
