Four suspects were arrested earlier this morning at the corner of Bakenkloof and Wonderboom streets in Pretoria North following a police operation targeting suspicious criminal activity in the area.

A group of armed men is expected to appear before the Pretoria North Magistrate’s Court later this week on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm, possession of house-breaking implements, and possession of drugs.

According to police, authorities received information about a suspicious silver VW Polo allegedly driving around residential areas with several occupants behaving suspiciously.

An integrated law enforcement team was immediately assembled to track the vehicle and monitor the suspects’ movements.

The operation involved members of the Pretoria North SAPS Crime Prevention Unit, Detectives, Tshwane Metro Police Department (TMPD) Bikers Unit, and Maximum Security Services.

The team followed up on the information and managed to trace the vehicle before intercepting it along Bakenkloof Street.

During the search of the vehicle, police recovered an unlicensed revolver with ammunition, various car-breaking implements, and a quantity of crystal methamphetamine.

The suspects were immediately arrested and detained at the Pretoria North Police Station for further investigation.

Police also confirmed that one of the suspects was identified as a possible intruder linked to a housebreaking incident recently reported in the area.

Investigations are continuing to determine whether the suspects may be connected to other criminal activities in Pretoria North and surrounding communities.

Pretoria North SAPS Station Commander, Colonel Nonzwakasi Julla, welcomed the arrests and commended the integrated law enforcement teams for their swift response and cooperation in ensuring that dangerous suspects were apprehended and illegal firearms removed from the streets.

The four suspects are expected to appear before the Pretoria North Magistrate’s Court later this week.
