FINDINGS EXPECTED TODAY OVER TRAGIC DEATH AT GEORGE MUKHARI HOSPITAL!

The Health Ombudsman is expected to release the findings of its investigation today, 23 March 2026 following the tragic death of Lerato Mohlamme.

The Mohlamme family in Mmakau, North West is seeking justice for their loved one’s death at the George Mukhari Hospital psychiatric unit in 2024.

They want people jailed for the death of Mohlamme, who passed in a fire incident.

Staff at the healthcare facility appear to have tried to hide the circumstances around the 35-year-old’s passing.l, according to an eNCA report.

It’s been 21 months since the Mohlamme family’s world was turned upside down.

Mohlamme’s sister, Molebogeng told eNCA that they just want the truth: “I told them that Lerato told me that you guys are ill-treating. There are several cases we have been hearing about George Mukhari, but we decided to let it go.

“It’s not the first case that Lerato has been complaining about the hospital. There was an accident that Lerato once reported the securities that something had happened, but I didn’t want to go into details.

“They weren’t treating her good, but we left it. But now it shows that all along, my sister was telling the truth.”

After the SA Human Rights Commission laid a complaint, the Health Ombud did its own investigations.

The family has now received a report about events surrounding the mother-of-two’s death.
