SIX DRUGGIES ARRESTED IN HUGE DRUG BUST!
The SAPS in Hammanskraal have made a massive drug bust worth millions in Makapanstad in the Bojanala District Municipality.
The police discovered drug laboratory in Thulwe village near Makapanstad where ostensibly the drugs were being manufactured.
The police followed a suspect who was wanted for drug distribution, and this led the police to a Makapanstad smallholding, which was used as a drug den.
Members of the Serious Organised Crime Investigation of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation in the Western Cape followed up on information relating to a suspect who had fled in a different case involving the proliferation of drugs.
The information led them to a smallholding in Thulwe, northwest of Maubane in the North West Province.
Upon the Hawks arrival, six suspects aged between 44 and 55 were found actively involved in the manufacturing of mandrax.
Large quantities of finished products (tablets) as well as powder were found on the scene.
MEC responsible for the North West Department of Community Safety and Transport Management, Wessels Morweng applauded the police while calling on community members to be vigilant.
Morweng reiterated the need for the community to report any criminal activities in their environment.
“To root out criminality we need community to be vigilant and report all suspicious activities,” said Morweng.
The six suspects will appear in court soon on charges of drugs manufacturing.
