BREAKING: TSHWANE MAYOR SUSPENDS ‘IMPLICATED’ MORODI AFTER SHOCKING MADLANGA COMMISSION ALLEGATIONS!
Tshwane Mayor Nasiphi Moya has placed MMC for Corporate and Shared Services,
Kholofelo Morodi on special leave with immediate effect, pending a preliminary investigation into the matters raised before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry to determine whether a prima facie case exists.
In a statement on Thursday afternoon, Moya’s office indicated that it has noted the testimony presented before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry, and the allegations relating to Morodi.
The statement indicates that the City regards matters of this nature with the utmost seriousness, as they speak to the principles of transparency, accountability, and ethical governance expected of all
public office bearers.
Morodi is implicated in allegations related to tender processes, yet to be proven, such as allegations indicating that there’s shared confidential municipal tender documents via WhatsApp with a police officer (Sgt Fannie Nkosi).
The documents reportedly included bid specifications for land lease tenders, and the sharing of these documents raised concerns that it could be linked to giving certain individuals inside information – an improper influence over tender processes.
Testimony at the commission also pointed to:
- Possible political interference in procurement
- Alleged attempts by different actors to influence or “rig” tenders in Tshwane.
In the interest of protecting the integrity of the institution, Moya indicated in a statement, while ensuring fairness to all parties, to place MMC Morodi on special leave with immediate effect.
“Section 60 of the Municipal Structures Act empowers the Executive Mayor to appoint
members of the Mayoral Committee and to determine their continued participation in
the execution of their responsibilities,” read the statement, “MMC Hannes Coetzee will act in this portfolio during the intervening period.”
To support this process, Moya will formally write to the Secretary of the
Madlanga Commission, Dr Nolitha Vukuza, to request that the Commission furnish the
City with any information in its possession relating to the allegations.
“This will enable the City to assess the matters raised in a considered, lawful, and procedurally fair
manner.”

commitment to transparency, accountability, and ensuring that all allegations are
subjected to appropriate scrutiny.

continue to act in a manner that protects both the integrity of the institution and the
rights of those involved.”
