Tshwane on Tuesday switched off electricity at the State Information and Technology Agency (SITA) in Erasmuskloof.
The agency owes the Municipality R3,2 million, according to Mayor Nasiphi Moya.
She says it’s important that as a government they are able to collect debt owed even from national counter parts.
Municipalities are buckling under pressure.

“We need all consumers to pay their debt to ensure that we are able to fund service delivery,” she said.

Earlier on Tuesday, the hardworking Mayor led #TshwaneYaTima to switch off electricity at the property owned by the Delta Prop Fund – which houses the Home Affairs Head Office in the CBD.
Delta owes the city R2,7 million.

Moongate Property located on Madiba Street in the CBD owes the City R1,7 million.

TshwaneYaTima teams have switched off electricity to this property too.

This building is vacant but it previously housed National Treasury.
