WORLD CUP BONUS ROW ERUPTS, AS BAFANA PLAYERS AWAIT THEIR MONEY!

Almost two months after the 2026 Fifa World Cup ended, Bafana Bafana players and members of the technical team are reportedly still waiting for bonuses allegedly owed to them by the South African Football Association (Safa).

The delay has reportedly caused growing frustration ahead of the national team’s upcoming camp.

Sunday World reports: Bafana players are considering a go-slow ahead of the camp for the 2027 Afcon qualifiers against Guinea, Eritrea and Egypt. A team source reportedly told the publication that players remain unhappy after being promised payment for their World Cup participation.

According to the report, Fifa transferred Safa’s funds roughly six weeks ago, with the association allegedly promising to distribute the money to players and staff last week. The 26 players who travelled to the tournament were reportedly due bonuses of about R2 million each, rising to approximately R2.5 million after Bafana reached the Last 32.

Safa reportedly received about R259 million from Fifa, including tournament and preparation funds. The SA Football Players Union said it was investigating the matter, while Safa officials could not immediately be reached for comment.
