MULTI-MILLION-RAND MANDRAX LAB IN ERASMIA DISMANTLED!

The discovery of a suspected multi-million-rand Mandrax manufacturing laboratory in Erasmia, west of Pretoria, has drawn the attention of senior police leadership, with Deputy National Commissioner for Policing, Lieutenant General Tebello Mosikili, attending the crime scene.

Lt General Mosikili is being taken through the suspected drug manufacturing facility as investigators continue to document evidence and assess the scale of the operation.

During the inspection, the senior police officer is being shown the drugs allegedly found at the premises, the equipment and materials believed to have been used in the manufacturing process, as well as the manner in which the finished product was allegedly stored.

The operation provides investigators with an opportunity to establish how the suspected laboratory functioned, including the different stages involved in the production of Mandrax and the potential scale of the distribution network linked to the facility.

The presence of the Deputy National Commissioner underscores the seriousness with which law-enforcement authorities are treating the discovery. A laboratory of this nature could potentially have supplied significant quantities of illicit drugs to markets beyond the immediate Erasmia area.

Police are expected to continue with a detailed forensic examination of the premises as evidence is collected and documented. Investigators will also seek to establish who was responsible for the operation, how long the facility had allegedly been active and where the drugs were destined.

The discovery is likely to form part of a broader investigation into the manufacture and distribution of illicit drugs in Gauteng.

Authorities have not yet disclosed the full value of the drugs and equipment seized, nor have all details surrounding arrests and possible charges been made public.
