NORTHAM-THABAZIMBI R510 ROAD OPEN AFTER SCHOOL BUS CRASH!

The R510 road towards Northam has reopened after being temporarily serviced in a stop-and-go mode due to a collision involving a bakkie and a school bus.

The accident occurred while the bus was transporting learners to Chromite Primary School in Smashblock.

In a statement, the Thabazimbi Local Municipality Mayor, Tumisang Jacob Pilane, along with Speaker Dingaan Joshua Sebata, and Councillors Kiniki Sesoma and Bosney Mashao, visited the accident scene to assess the situation and offered support.

Following the incident, all learners were transported to Thabazimbi Hospital for medical evaluation.

Fortunately, after thorough checks by medical personnel, all of them were discharged without serious injuries.

On-site counseling services were provided by social workers to support the affected learners.

Many concerned parents were present at the hospital, and Pilane offered them reassurance during the visit.

The Department of Education, Thabazimbi and Dwaalboom circuits officials, and the principal of Chromite Primary School were also in attendance at Thabazimbi Hospital to provide support and monitor the situation closely.

Authorities are continuing to monitor the area to ensure safety and prevent future accidents.
