Pupils suspended after water attack on teacher at Hoër Tegniese Skool, Klerksdorp

Five pupils from Hoër Tegniese Skool in Klerksdorp have been suspended after a video showing them dousing a teacher with water went viral on social media.

The incident took place on Tuesday, 19 August 2025, when the pupils, dressed in overalls and balaclavas, disrupted learning activities in the school’s locker area.

When a teacher attempted to intervene and restore order, he was pelted with paper before being splashed with a bucket of water from behind.

North West Education MEC Viola Motsumi condemned the behaviour as “barbaric and unacceptable,” warning that such conduct would not be tolerated in schools, accordingto a report from MDN News.

The learners have been placed on a five-day precautionary suspension while a formal disciplinary process, in line with the school’s code of conduct, is underway.Parents have been informed, and the matter will be dealt with by the School Governing Body.

The department further confirmed that support would be provided to both the affected teacher and pupils impacted by the incident. – MDN News
