THREE ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS CAUGHT IN ZONE 1, GA-RANKUWA TO APPEAR IN COURT!
Three suspects are expected to appear before the Pretoria North Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 6 March 2026, facing charges of armed robbery and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
The trio was arrested on Tuesday afternoon shortly after allegedly robbing an elderly woman in Pretoria North.
According to police reports, the victim had just left a local banking institution when she was approached by three armed men.
The suspects allegedly followed and confronted her before robbing her of a handbag containing cellphones, jewellery, and an undisclosed amount of cash.
The suspects then fled the scene in a white Volkswagen Polo.
Police were immediately alerted, triggering a swift manhunt involving multiple law enforcement and security agencies. The operation included detectives from the Pretoria North SAPS, the SAPS Highway Patrol, GAC Security and Tracker Connect.
Following intelligence-driven leads, officers traced the suspects to Zone 1 in Ga-Rankuwa, where two of the suspects were arrested. Authorities recovered a firearm and the suspected getaway vehicle — a white VW Polo fitted with false registration plates.
Further investigations led the team to the Orchards area, where a third suspect was apprehended. Another firearm was recovered during the arrest.
Pretoria North Station Commander, Nonzwakasi Julla, commended the coordinated effort by all teams involved.
She praised the swift response that led to the arrests and reaffirmed the police’s commitment to removing illegal firearms and dangerous weapons from the streets to ensure community safety.
The suspects remain in custody pending their court appearance.
